The BMW iX of the I20 series is the brand's technology flagship, manufactured at the Dingolfing plant on a dedicated aluminum space frame platform with a CFRP roof frame and body sections made from recycled materials. With its polarizing double kidney as a closed shy-tech surface (radar and sensors hidden behind it), five doors, and a length of 4.95 meters, it deliberately stands apart from the classic BMW SUV line. The high-voltage battery with up to 112 kWh of usable capacity powers two fifth-generation electric motors and enables a range of up to 700 km (WLTP) in the xDrive60; the M70 xDrive delivers 659 PS of system output for a sprint time of 3.8 seconds. The curved glass display, shy-tech interior without visible switches on the roof and pillars, crystal hexagonal steering wheel, and open fabric seat upholstery made from recycled material define the interior. Options include a panoramic glass roof with electrically variable transparency, air suspension, and integral active steering.
