The BMW iX1 is the fully electric variant of the X1, sharing its body type, interior, and platform with the combustion engine model. The FAAR platform was specifically engineered for electric propulsion: the 64.7-kWh high-voltage battery is integrated flat into the vehicle's underbody and powers two highly efficient fifth-generation electric motors, delivering all-wheel drive and 313 PS in the xDrive30 variant. Alternatively, the front-wheel drive eDrive20 is available with 204 PS. DC charging is supported at up to 130 kW, reducing the 10-to-80-% charging time to 29 minutes. The interior is identical to the X1, featuring the BMW Curved Display and Operating System 9; exclusive to the electric model are electrically selectable color schemes, Hans-Zimmer-IconicSounds, and Adaptive Recuperation. Optional features include the Autobahn Assistant, a heat pump, and the BMW Head-up Display. The iX1 is produced alongside the X1 at the BMW plant in Regensburg.
