History.
Helmut Knaus started building caravans in the Bavarian Forest in 1960 — today, Knaus is one of the central brands of the publicly listed Knaus Tabbert AG.
Helmut Knaus founded a caravan manufacturing business in Marktbreit in 1960, which quickly became known for lightweight, well-engineered caravans. The move to Jandelsbrunn in the Bavarian Forest established what is now the main plant. In 1972, Knaus expanded production to include motorhomes.
In 1997, Knaus merged with Tabbert, a caravan manufacturer from Upper Franconia. The Knaus Tabbert GmbH became Knaus Tabbert AG in 2008, and has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since September 2020. Today, Knaus is the group's highest-volume brand, producing caravans, semi-integrated motorhomes, and camper vans for the European mass market.
