Since 1931, Ford has been manufacturing vehicles in Cologne for the European market. The plant in Cologne-Niehl is one of the most traditional Ford plants worldwide and today produces compact and SUV models, as well as the two BEV models Explorer and Capri on the VW MEB platform since 2024.

Ford compact class bestseller in its fourth generation (Mk4, 2018–2025): available as a five-door hatchback and Turnier estate, with EcoBoost mHEV and EcoBlue diesel engines as well as the 280 PS Focus ST. Production at the Saarlouis plant ended on 14 November 2025.
