The Ford Explorer of the RCB model series is the result of a platform cooperation between Ford and Volkswagen concluded in 2019: Based on the modular MEB electric platform, a fully electric compact SUV was created with a distinctive Ford character, manufactured since June 2024 at the new Cologne Electric Vehicle Center in Cologne-Niehl — the former Fiesta plant, which was completely converted for electric mobility. The model range starts with the 170-kW rear-wheel drive (Standard Range, 52 kWh net), above which are the Extended Range variants with 77 or 79 kWh and up to 602 km WLTP range, as well as a dual-motor all-wheel drive with 340 PS system output. The striking design with C-shaped LED signature, the vertically oriented 14.6-inch SYNC Move display with integrated sound system, and the 17-liter MyPrivateLocker storage space behind the touchscreen make the Explorer one of the most characterful electric SUVs in its class. DC charging is possible with up to 185 kW (Extended Range).
