The BMW 8 Series Coupé (G15) was manufactured at the BMW plant in Dingolfing from July 2018 to early 2025, marking the return of the storied 8 Series name in the form of a sporting and luxurious Gran Turismo. As a two-door coupé with a steeply raked roofline, frameless side windows, and a standard carbon roof, it combined a commanding road presence with high-quality hand craftsmanship in the interior. Technically, it shared the CLAR platform with the 5 Series and 7 Series, but featured its own chassis tuning with adaptive M suspension, integral active steering, and an optional M Sport differential. The coupé was available with the 840d xDrive inline-six diesel (320 PS), the M850i xDrive V8 biturbo (530 PS), and the M8 Competition Coupé, developed in-house as a dedicated M vehicle. Its final production year was 2024/25; BMW has not yet announced a direct successor – instead, the brand is anticipating a revival with plug-in hybrid technology as the G77 Gran Coupé in late 2025.
