The VW ID.3 has been Volkswagen's first mass-production model developed exclusively for electric mobility since 2019, and is manufactured at the Zwickau plant on the MEB platform. After plans to relocate ID.3 production to Wolfsburg were withdrawn and production at the Gläserne Manufaktur Dresden comes to an end in late 2025, ID.3 manufacturing will be concentrated entirely at Zwickau from 2026 onwards. Since the 2023 model update and the introduction of the GTX top-of-the-range version in 2024, the ID.3 covers a broad spectrum: the base Pro version offers 204 PS and a 59-kWh battery (net) with around 429 km of WLTP range, while the Pro S uses a larger 77-kWh battery for up to 559 km. The GTX with 286 PS rear motor and the GTX Performance with 326 PS bring significantly more sportiness to the lineup, with the more powerful variant accelerating to 100 km/h in under 5.7 seconds. All ID.3 variants feature a 12-inch infotainment system, the IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration, and comprehensive over-the-air software updates.
