The VW Touran has been the compact van classic in the Volkswagen passenger car lineup since 2003, offering family-friendly practicality in standard parking garage dimensions with up to seven seats in three rows, a flexible interior layout, and an enormous storage volume. The current second generation (Type 5T) is based on the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) and was introduced in 2015. The Touran is powered by the 1.5 TSI petrol engine with 150 PS and the 2.0 TDI diesel with 150 PS, available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG). Due to the UN safety regulation GSR II Level C taking effect from July 2026, the Touran will no longer be type-approvable without extensive technical revision — VW has therefore confirmed the end of production for CW 16/2026. The last opportunity to place an order runs until 13 March 2026. There will be no direct successor. The Touran is produced at VW's main plant in Wolfsburg.
