The seventh-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class (model series W223, since 2020) is the brand's flagship and has been the benchmark luxury-class sedan for decades. It sets standards in luxury, innovation, and comfort: from the second-generation MBUX with 3D display, to the sophisticated Level 3 Drive Pilot system (approved on defined sections), to rear-axle steering with up to 10 degrees of steering angle for legendary maneuverability. The drivetrain portfolio ranges from the inline six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, each with a 48-volt mild hybrid, through the V8 biturbo, to the S 580 e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid with up to 117 km of electric range (WLTP) and 60 kW DC charging capacity. The suspension with Airmatic air suspension and optional E-Active Body Control (48V hydrolevel) compensates for road irregularities before they are traversed. The S-Class is manufactured at the state-of-the-art Factory 56 in Sindelfingen.
