The Audi A5 Sportback of the F5 series was produced from early 2016 to late 2024 at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm, targeting customers who wanted to combine the coupé design of a sedan with the practicality of a large tailgate. Built on the MLB evo platform, it shared technology and drivetrains with the A4 series, but thanks to its fastback body type offered a significantly expanded cargo area of up to 1,300 Liter. The engine lineup included economical 2.0-liter TFSI and TDI units with a 12-volt mild hybrid system, the sporty S5 Sportback top model with a 3.0-liter V6 TDI, and the RS 5 Sportback with a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo and 450 PS. quattro all-wheel drive, S sport differential, Matrix LED headlights, and an extensive list of driver assistance systems underscored the premium positioning. With the model change to the new A5 generation — a sedan with fastback body type on the PPC platform — the standalone Sportback variant was discontinued in 2024.
