The Audi A2 e-tron revives a traditional name as a fully electric entry-level model, marking Audi's move into the electric compact segment. Following the world premiere on September 7, 2026, the first production vehicle rolled off the line at the main plant in Ingolstadt on September 10, 2026, in the presence of Minister-President Markus Söder, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner, and Head of Production Gerd Walker. Orders opened on the same day, with market launch scheduled for December 2026. Technically, the A2 e-tron is based on the further developed MEB+ platform from the Volkswagen Group, featuring rear-wheel drive and four power levels ranging from 125 to 240 kW. Three battery options are available: 52 and 61 kWh (gross) with LFP cells in a cell-to-pack design, as well as 84 kWh with NMC chemistry; range varies by variant from 423 to 646 km (WLTP). With a drag coefficient of 0.24 and energy consumption from 12.8 kWh/100 km, Audi claims it is the most efficient model in the company's history. DC charging is supported at up to 183 kW (10–80% in 29 minutes), and the A2 e-tron optionally supports Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Home energy output. Also noteworthy is the development process: Audi brought the model to production readiness 21 months faster than comparable predecessor projects and manufactures it in Ingolstadt alongside the A3, using approximately 250 repurposed robots in the body shop.
