The X-PEDITION is Weinsberg's only truly off-road capable panel van and occupies a niche within the Knaus-Tabbert Group that no other model serves. The basis is the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter – the premium chassis in the group's portfolio – with an overall length of 6.30 m (including front bumper and rear spare wheel carrier). Delivered as standard with a 3.5 t gross vehicle weight and standard drivetrain, Weinsberg offers the X-PEDITION optionally with Mercedes's own 4x4 drivetrain and a 100 mm suspension lift – in this configuration it can be uprated to 4.1 t (class C1 licence required). The rugged equipment includes underbody protection, a snorkel air intake, tyres with an off-road-capable tread pattern, and a rear spare wheel carrier with a second spare wheel. In 2026, the X-PEDITION will compete at the Dakar Classic with a factory team – a powerful marketing claim for genuine off-road capability. Within the Weinsberg portfolio, it is positioned away from the value-oriented CaraBus range and targets all-wheel drive campers who are willing to pay a premium for genuine off-road capability.
