The Mercedes-Benz Econic is the low-floor specialist for urban operations, refuse collection, and airport service vehicles. Its unique DirectVision cab, featuring a low seating position and all-round glazing, provides direct eye contact with pedestrians and cyclists – a significant safety advantage in urban environments. Power comes from the OM 936 diesel engine (BlueTec 6); the former natural gas variant was replaced in 2022 by the fully electric eEconic. The optional Allison 6-speed automatic transmission enables smooth, judder-free maneuvering. With just two entry steps, the Econic reduces the physical strain on drivers during frequent boarding and alighting, as required in refuse collection operations.
