The Mercedes-Benz Econic is the low-floor specialist for urban operations, refuse collection, and airport service vehicles. Its unique DirectVision cab with a low seating position and all-around panoramic glazing provides direct eye contact with pedestrians and cyclists – a significant safety advantage in urban operations. Available with the diesel OM 936 (BlueTec 6) engine or as a CNG variant (M 936G) running on compressed natural gas. The optional Allison automatic transmission with 6 gears allows smooth, jerk-free maneuvering. With only two entry steps, the Econic reduces the physical strain on drivers during frequent entry and exit cycles, such as in refuse collection.
