Mercedes-Benz ramps up production of the electric GLC in Bremen
At the Bremen plant, Mercedes-Benz celebrated the start of series production of the fully electric GLC. The SUV is built alongside combustion engine and hybrid models on a flexible drivetrain line – and became the most-ordered electric model in the brand's history within its first few months.
The electric GLC (GLC 400 4MATIC with EQ technology) rolls off the line in Hall 9 of the Bremen plant, where Mercedes-Benz has been manufacturing vehicles for 50 years. The lead plant for the model range produces the SUV on a shared line alongside the combustion engine GLC and the EQE series; approximately 10,500 employees work in three-shift operations.
Technically, the GLC is built on an 800-volt architecture: in approximately ten minutes, it can charge enough energy for up to around 305 kilometers, with a WLTP range of up to 715 kilometers. The top model delivers 489 PS. In the first three months after orders opened, the electric GLC became, according to the company, the most ordered electric vehicle in the history of Mercedes-Benz.
The market launch with initial deliveries already took place in March 2026. Additional, less powerful variants as well as an AMG version are set to complement the lineup.
