The Rebel XL is the consistent further development of Rhön Camp's off-road expedition vehicle The Rebel and was presented at the Abenteuer & Allrad 2026 in Bad Kissingen as a model year 2027 newcomer. Built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with permanent all-wheel drive, four-cylinder diesel OM 654, and 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, the GRP box body grows to an overall length of 7.20 m – the wheelbase is 66 cm longer than on the Rebel, while width (2.18 m) and height (3.05 m) remain expedition-ready compact. The central argument for the XL is its sleeping concept: for the first time, the off-road Sprinter offers a wide longitudinal bed measuring 2.04 m in length and 1.60 m in width at the head end and 1.47 m at the foot end, replacing the transverse bed – noticeably more comfort for tall people and long-term travelers. Beneath it lies a spacious rear garage with compartments and airline rails; in front of that, an extended kitchen unit with a 2-burner hob, sink, and Dometic refrigerator, a larger wardrobe, additional storage boxes, and a full bathroom with a separation toilet. Self-sufficient travel is enabled by the 144-l fresh water tank, the Truma Combi 4DE diesel heater fed from the vehicle's fuel tank, and an EcoFlow Powerkit; real glass windows, winter-grade insulation, and LED ambient lighting underscore the craftsmanship claim. Like all Rhön Camp vehicles, the Rebel XL is produced in small-batch manufacturing in Schondra-Schildeck in the Bavarian Rhön.
