Dexter

The Dexter is Karmann-Mobil's central panel van all-rounder and the most extensive portfolio in the brand's camper van segment. Eight floor plans — DE 540, DE 550, DE 560 FW, DE 580, DE 595, DE 600, DE 625 and DE 635 — cover lengths from 5,420 to 6,360 mm and gross vehicle weights from 2,742 to 3,002 kg. Karmann-Mobil employs two platforms in the Dexter: the classic Fiat Ducato with a 2.2-liter engine and 140 PS, as well as the Ford Transit with a 2.0-liter engine in the DE 560 FW variant — a deliberate differentiation that opens buyers up to both the established Ducato service network and the Ford alternative. Standard features include a 4 kW diesel heater, a heated waste water tank for winter travel, lithium-ion batteries for modern energy self-sufficiency, and real wood accents in the interior — the latter a conscious statement against the prevailing trend toward plastic surfaces. With two to four belted seats and an equal number of sleeping berths depending on the floor plan, the Dexter primarily targets couples and small families looking for a fully capable travel companion in everyday-friendly dimensions.
