The Sommer Diesel 462 is one of the few serially produced diesel motorcycles in the world and a technical curiosity of the highest order. Its heart is an air-cooled Hatz single-cylinder diesel engine with 462 ccm and approximately 11 PS – figures that allow for no racing performance, but deliver a phenomenal fuel consumption of just around 2.5 Liter of diesel per 100 km and an expected engine service life beyond 500,000 km. Sommer Motorradmanufaktur in Bergen-Geyern (Middle Franconia) builds each unit by hand to order. Fields of application include military use, expedition deployments in regions of the world where diesel is available, and individual enthusiasts seeking a true one-of-a-kind machine. The classic styling with its distinctive tank and characteristic diesel sound makes it an automatic conversation magnet.
