Fraport AG is a leading player in the global airport industry and boasts a long tradition as an airport operator. Fraport's expertise is based on more than 80 years of aviation history at Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Frankfurt Airport (airport code = FRA) is located about 12 kilometers from downtown Frankfurt. A renowned pioneer for decades, FRA serves as Fraport’s home base and as a showcase for the company's know-how, technology, products, and services.

FRA has become “Germany's largest employment complex at a single location” with more than 500 companies and organizations providing jobs for about 71,000 people – including almost 19,000 who work for Fraport, its subsidiaries and affiliated companies.

In 2010 Frankfurt Airport welcomed more than 53 million passengers and handled about 2.2 million metric tons of airfreight – making it Germany’s busiest passenger airport, FRA ranks number three in Europe for passengers and number two for airfreight. Among the top 10 airports in the world, FRA holds ninth place for passenger traffic and seventh place for cargo tonnage (ACI 2010 figures).

Fraport Worldwide

Through investments and subsidiaries, Fraport AG is active at more than 50 locations in Germany and worldwide.

In 2006, Fraport and its Indian partners began a 30-year concession for operating, managing and developing Delhi Airport [Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA)] in the Indian capital. Together with state run Airports Authority of India (AAI) Fraport AG has formed “Delhi International Airport Private Limited (DIAL)”. Fraport is the nominated “Airport Operator” and an Airport Operator Agreement concluded with DIAL – under which it will bei utilizing its extensive airport expertise developed over the past 80 years to assist with the operation, management and development of IGIA.

Currently Air India and Lufthansa offer 45 weekly connections from Frankfurt to India.
